You can have a key, a dial or a keypad. Some are fire rated and some aren’t, so it comes down to what you’re keeping in there.

We can also open, service or rekey a safe you already have, including old ones where nobody knows the combination.

Frequently Asked Home Safe Questions

What size do I need?

Bigger than you think. Most people fill theirs within a year and wish they’d gone up a size. Tell us what you’re putting in it and we’ll leave a bit of room.

What’s the difference between a fire rating and a cash rating?

The fire rating tells you how long your things stay safe in a fire. The cash rating is a guide to how hard the safe is to break into, and it’s the one insurers usually ask about. They’re two different things, so it helps to know which matters more to you. We’ll explain it.

Does it have to be bolted down?

We really recommend it, and a lot of insurers ask for it. Anything under a few hundred kilos can be lifted or wheeled out. We fix it to concrete or timber depending on where it’s going.

Can it go upstairs or in a wardrobe?

Usually. The two things we check are the weight and whether we can get it in, so we’ll have a look at the floor and the path first. Floor safes are the exception and need a slab.

Can you open my safe if I’ve lost the code?

Often, yes. Let us know the make and model if you have it. We can also change codes and replace electronic locks that have died.
